REMINDER: BID FOR CUSTOM UCI TRACK CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BIKES IN SUPPORT OF CANADIAN CLUBS

Ottawa, ON (Dec. 5, 2022) – Only one week remains to place your bid on a customized frame ridden by Canadians to medal performances at the 2022 UCI Track Champions League. Proceeds from the auction directly benefit local clubs to foster the next generation of cycling champions riding for the maple leaf.

The unique community fundraiser presented by Cycling Canada, Argon 18 and VéloColour saw five athletes represent their communities for the duration of the series, which ran across Europe from Nov. 12 to Dec. 3, with bikes painted in the colours of their respective home clubs.

Kelsey Mitchell of Sherwood Park, AB, rode her royal blue frame to second place in the women’s sprint standings in support of Juventus Cycling Club, based in Edmonton, AB.

British Columbia was heavily represented in women’s endurance. The yellow of Burnaby Velodrome Club stood out on track as Maple Ridge native Maggie Coles-Lyster pedaled to third in the standings.

“It means so much for us to be able to share in Maggie’s story and journey,” said a representative from the Burnaby Velodrome Club. “This frame represents her, us, and cycling in BC. The person that purchases it will have a piece of all of us in it. We hope that the proceeds will help us to be able to continue to share our blood, sweat, tears, joy, loss, pain and passion.”

Victoria’s Sarah van Dam and Tripleshot Cycling followed in eighth place with their distinctive teal frame.

In the Men’s Endurance standings, Mathias Guillemette of Trois-Rivières, QC, placed fifth on the light blue frame of the Centre National de Cyclisme de Bromont of Bromont, QC.
