Your generous donations to Club 1882 play a vital role in propelling Cycling Canada’s National Team and its projects forward. Each membership, directly provides athletes with the resources and opportunities they need to achieve greatness. Your support doesn’t just break down financial barriers; it fuels dreams, ensuring that every athlete, regardless of their financial capacity, can reach their full potential. By joining us in this mission, you’re not just supporting the growth of opportunities in our sport; you’re fostering inspiration and pride across Canada, through the incredible achievements and ambassadorship of our athletes. Together, let’s empower dreams and build a legacy of excellence in Canadian cycling.

Here are some of the impacts that your donations have made throughout the years:

Athlete Development 

  • Supported 112 unique Junior athlete opportunities through National Team projects or programming, amounting to 224 days.  
  • Increased international racing opportunities for Junior and U23 athletes, with a total of 16 projects. 
  • Supported 33 professional development opportunities for 18 Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization and affiliated club coaches across the country who gained 358 total days in the field on National Team projects 
  • Strengthened support for developing athletes in cyclo‐cross and downhill, two disciplines where we have historically lacked financial resources 

Community and Grassroots 

  • $1 millioninvested into community and grassroots initiatives since 2022. 
  • Over $717,400 total funding to Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations (PTSO) in year one and two of the Community Sport for All Initiative.  
  • Expanded the HopOn Program to 9 provinces and territories reaching over 37,712 kids 
  • Launched the HopOn grant program, which deployed over $200,000 to our provincial/territorial partners. 
  • Trained 258community coaches nationwide including 37 Learning Facilitators in 7 provinces 

Additional Support 

  • Over $160,000 in donations transferred to our Member Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations and Cycling Canada Trade Teams, supporting their vital work to grow the sport and strengthen the athlete development pathway. 

Grassroots

  • Expanded HopOn from 1 to 8 provinces and territories reaching over 6,000 kids
  • Launched the HopOn grant program, which deployed over $200,000 to our provincial/territorial partners with plans for an additional round of funding in early 2023
  • Trained 61 National Coaching Certification Program Instructors nationwide including Master Learning Facilitators in 6 provinces
  • Hosted the first-ever HopOn national summit in Ottawa, ON

Athlete Development

  • Supported 68 Junior riders through National Team projects or programming and a total of 206 athletes across all disciplines and development stages
  • Increased overseas racing opportunities for Junior and U23 athletes, most notably in road where 44 athletes gained National Team experience across 11 competition or training projects
  • Strengthened support for developing athletes in cyclo‐cross and downhill, two disciplines where we have historically struggled for resources
  • Supported 21 professional development opportunities for 14 Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization and affiliated club coaches across the country who gained 299 total days in the field on National Team projects
  • Continued the growth of our Advancement Camp initiative, delivering 15 regional development camps reaching over 150 athletes with 15 coaches from 10 different provinces and territories

Grassroots

  • Reached 4,961 HopOn participants
  • Activated HopOn in 4 provinces and territories (NS, YK, BC, PEI)
  • Trained 28 new National Coaching Certification Program Instructors and 4 Learning Facilitators to help drive program growth

Athlete Development

Cyclo-cross Programming
  • The first fully supported project to Pan American Cyclo-cross Championships in Garland, TX (7 development athletes including 5 first-year Juniors)
  • 6th Annual Christmas Cross Project in Belgium (11 development athletes contested 6 races over 2 weeks)
Downhill Programming
  • The first fully supported project at a World Championships since 2015 (8 development athletes competed, all of which were first-year Juniors)
  • The first fully supported project at a World Cup since 2015 (9 development athletes competed, and all were first-year Juniors)
Road Programming

Junior Women

  • 7 development athletes competed in the Bizkaikoloreak Feminas stage race in Spain
  • 7 development athletes competed in the Watersley Challenge stage race in the Netherlands

Junior Men

  • 6 development athletes competed in the GP Rüebliland stage race in Switzerland
  • 5 development athletes competed in the Keizer der Juniores stage race in Belgium

U23 Women

  • 7 development athletes competed in the Watersley Challenge stage race in the Netherlands
  • 4 development athletes competed in the La Choralis Fourniers stage race in Belgium

U23 Men

  • 6 development athletes competed in the L’Etoile d’OR Nations Cup stage race in France
  • 6 development athletes competed in the Tour de Chamonix Mont Blanc stage race in France
  • 6 development athletes competed in the Tour de L’Avenir Nations Cup stage race in France
  • 6 development athletes competed in the Tour de Alsace stage race in France
