About 1882 Collective

The 1882 Collective is a community of affiliated clubs and trade teams each working to foster the growth and development of the sport of cycling in Canada. By supporting a member of the 1882 Collective, donors have the opportunity to make a contribution to the sport of cycling at the local, provincial AND national level with 100% of funds allocated to the Canadian cycling landscape.

What is the objective of the 1882 Collective?

The objective of the 1882 Collective is simple – to infuse the Canadian cycling system with much-needed funding to foster the growth and development of the sport of cycling nationwide. By offering a collective fundraising platform and resources to underfunded cycling clubs and teams, Cycling Canada aims to reduce barriers to entry to the sport of cycling at all levels, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of future talent and increasing the number of Canadians who cycle.

Who are the 1882 Collective Affiliates?

1882 Collective affiliates are Trade Teams and Clubs in good standing, officially affiliated with Cycling Canada and/or their Provincial/Territorial Cycling Association. Affiliate members are welcomed to the Collective following a complete audit of fundraising objectives and vetted affiliation through their relative Provincial/Territorial Cycling Association.

How are 1882 Collective donations distributed?

All funds raised through the 1882 Collective are distributed directly to the Canadian cycling ecosystem – no hidden fees. Donations are received directly by Cycling Canada through each affiliate’s unique fundraising webpage. From there, Cycling Canada retains 10% of the donation, distributed directly to national cycling programs and initiatives. For those Provincial Club and Provincial Trade Team affiliates, a further 5% is distributed to the not-for-profit Provincial/Territorial Cycling Association where the affiliate club is registered, supporting local and Provincial/Territorial programming essential to the growth of the sport.
