Ottawa, ON (June 5, 2025)- Cycling Canada is pleased to announce the twenty-seven affiliated cycling clubs and groups nationwide who were selected to receive the Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI) funding. Through our strategic partnerships with provincial/ territorial sport organizations across Canada, these communities will receive the two-year grant aimed at increasing participation and removing barriers for underserved participants, youth, and persons with a disability programming. This funding was made possible by the Government of Canada.
The funding will support each club’s unique approach to increase participation and remove barriers for underserved participants in the sport of cycling, utilizing HopOn curriculum. There is special focus on programs for persons with a disability which will increase youth and adult participants. Funding will cover expenses such as HopOn instructor training, equipment and program subsidies. Clubs will pilot the HopOn Bridge programming in Year 2, a discipline-specific curriculum focused on retaining participants after completion of a HopOn program.
Six cycling clubs across Quebec are leading efforts to make cycling accessible to youth from under-represented communities, through this funding opportunity, supported by Cycling Canada and the Government of Canada. In Bromont, the Centre National de Cyclisme brings cycling directly to schools with a mobile bike fleet, engaging low-income, newcomer, and youth with disabilities. Notably, through the Embarquez program, Mon Vélo and C.C. Fous Braquets, working in partnership with the FQSC, are delivering cycling opportunities in remote Indigenous communities, including Pessamit. The initiative includes training local staff, providing adapted bikes and helmets, and collaborating with community members to build a sustainable cycling culture. Collectively, initiatives like these are advancing equity in sport and fostering a more inclusive cycling culture across the province.
