Canadian gravel champs head to ALBERTA this weekend

Ottawa, ON (June 13, 2025) – Cycling Canada is thrilled to announce the return of the Canadian Gravel Championships to Water Valley, AB on June 15, 2025. Following a successful event in 2024, the Championship will once again be hosted by Deadgoat Racing, bringing riders back to the rugged and scenic Ghost of the Gravel course in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Riders from across the country will compete for the coveted maple leaf jersey in Elite, Junior, and Masters categories, with national titles on the line. The route will challenge riders with over 118 km of technical gravel roads and approximately 6,800 feet of elevation gain, making it one of Canada’s most demanding and rewarding gravel events.

“This event exemplifies the grit and determination that goes into gravel racing. We’re excited to celebrate that spirit of perseverance, and we can’t wait to see how the athletes rise to the occasion, “says Events and Officials Coordinator Jacob Graper. “We extend our gratitude to the organizers, volunteers, and local supporters for creating an exceptional event once again.”

The 2024 elite men’s champion Adam Roberge will battle it out for the second year with Michael Van den Ham who completed the podium 44.2 seconds behind Roberge. In the elite women’s category, the course will see the return of Anna Gabrielle Traxler, who finished third in the 2024 season, making the race a competitive ride for all.

The event will run in conjunction with a mass participation gravel fondo, offering riders of all levels the opportunity to take part in the Ghost of the Gravel experience on both competitive and recreational levels. While only licensed riders are eligible for championship titles, the fondo remains open to all.
