CYCLING CANADA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER FOR THE 2025 UCI URBAN CYCLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN RIYADH

OTTAWA, ON (October 30) – Cycling Canada is proud to announce the five athletes who will represent Canada at the 2025 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from November 4 to 8.

Returning to the world stage, Paris 2024 Olympian Jeffrey Whaley will once again compete in BMX Freestyle Park category, joined by Maxime Chalifour, the reigning Canadian Champion. Also competing in park is Mike Varga, bronze medalist at the 2025 Canadian BMX Freestyle Championships and Xavier Wright who enters his second season with the national team.   

Jean William Prévost will be the sole athlete representing Canada in the flatland category. Prévost remains one of the sport’s top contenders as bronze medalist at the 2024 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships and a consistent leader in the UCI BMX Freestyle Flatland ranks.

Cycling Canada’s National Team Coach and BMX Freestyle Lead, Dave Thomas, explains, “It’s very exciting to be able to go to the World Championships again with such a great group of riders. We had a lot of success last year and are looking forward to progressing further after a great year of performances from all the athletes in 2025.”
