Ottawa, ON (October 1, 2025) – Cycling Canada is thrilled to announce two major updates to its fundraising strategy – the creation of the 1882 Collective and updates to the existing Club 1882 fundraising program. In close collaboration with Provincial & Territorial Cycling Associations, existing donors, and affiliated clubs and teams, Cycling Canada aims to bolster key support to the cycling ecosystem with enhanced fundraising support at every level.
For the first time in history, Cycling Canada, partner Provincial/Territorial Sport Organizations, National Trade Teams, Provincial Trade Teams and Provincial Clubs have joined forces to raise funds in a collaborative effort to holistically support the development of cycling nationwide. This collaborative effort will be known as the 1882 Collective. Through the 1882 Collective, Cycling Canada will work directly alongside affiliated clubs and trade teams to support unique fundraising initiatives with the objective to infuse resources into essential development initiatives across Canada. Once vetted, affiliate members will be supported with the creation of unique fundraising pages to raise vital funds required to support the development of cycling at every level. By donating to any member of the 1882 Collective, donors can rest-assured that 100% of funds donated will directly support the Canadian cycling ecosystem. Included as an affiliate within the 1882 Collective, Cycling Canada will continue to drive National Team fundraising efforts through Club 1882. Spearheaded by Olympic medalist and longtime cycling advocate Curt Harnett, Club 1882 was launched in 2021 and remains the direct fundraising branch for Cycling Canada’s national team development initiatives. All funds raised through Club 1882 are allocated directly to National Team programming, serving developing athletes as they aspire to international success. Building on the initial success of the Club 1882 launch, Cycling Canada is excited to promote three new major donation tiers for those looking to make a lasting impact on national team development programming. New donation tiers will be recognized at the Gold ($50,000+), Silver ($25,000 – $49,999) and Bronze ($10,000 – $24,999) levels, including exciting new recognition initiatives for donors. Donors interested in contributing at the highest levels will have the opportunity to focus donations on specified projects or disciplines of-choice, maximizing focused impact and receiving recognition to reflect relative support. “We are excited to continue the development of Cycling Canada’s fundraising strategy,” said Josh Peacock, Director of Business Development and Communications at Cycling Canada. “Having seen the outstanding results of piloting the 1882 Collective model with various clubs and teams throughout 2024 and 2025, we are confident that this initiative will make a meaningful impact to enhance quality programming and reduce barriers to entry at every level of the sport moving forward. In speaking closely with our most loyal and generous donors, we are also confident that these major updates to Club 1882 donation tiers will incentivize high-level donations for immediate and meaningful impact to currently under resourced national team development programming. All our recent successes are a testament to the direct support of our community, and our objective is to continue to inspire the cycling community to support vital efforts moving forward”.
