CYCLO-CROSS TALENT SHINES AT THE 2025 CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LÉVIS

OTTAWA, ON (November 16, 2025) – The 2025 Lazer Canadian Cyclo-Cross Championships and Trek National CX Challenge (C1) brought Canada’s top riders to Lévis, Quebec, for three days of fast, snowy, and unforgettable racing. Held November 14–16, the event crowned national champions across every category, from U17 and Junior to U23, Elite, and Masters. It also marked the final Canadian Championships of the season.

Maghalie Rochette claimed the elite women’s title, delivering a competitive and precise race. Rochette reflected on her victory, saying “I’m hoping in 2030 we’ll see cyclo-cross at the Olympics but if that doesn’t happen, I’m not too worried with the talent we have in Canada. I’m going to do my best to have the maple leaf on your screens [at the Cyclo-Cross World Cups] in the month of January. I’ll be competing there and looking forward to it!”

On the elite men’s side, Tyler Clark rode to the finish first to claim gold. Clark said: “It’s a hard course to follow, there’s a lot of little ruts out there and it was starting to freeze, so I figured I’d be out in front, ride my own pace, and stay out of trouble. It worked out well.”

Champions were crowned across all divisions, highlighting both emerging talent and experienced riders. U17 titles went to Nicole Haviland (Women) and Jon Mercier (Men). In the junior races, Éliane Blais (Women) and Émilien Belzile (Men) earned top honours. The U23 categories saw Rafaëlle Carrier (Women) and Mika Comaniuk (Men) take gold.

Masters riders added to the excitement with victories across age groups. On the women’s side, Audrey Dubuc (35–44), Sue Haviland (45–54), Kelly Welbourn (55–64), and Patricia Konantz (65+) all claimed titles. For the men, Mathieu Bélanger-Barrette (35–44), Dan Souter (45–54), Jean-François Blais (55–64), and James Sciberas (65+) each secured wins.

Sunday’s Trek National CX Challenge rounded out the weekend with UCI C1 races for Junior and Elite categories, alongside Open Sport, youth, U17, and Masters events that highlighted the breadth of Canadian cyclo-cross. The full event reflected the energy of the sport and the commitment of athletes, organizers, and fans alike.
