OTTAWA, ON (August 31, 2025) – Alexandre Hayward of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, captured the gold medal on Friday in the Men’s C3 Individual Time Trial at the 2025 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Ronse, Belgium, delivering a commanding performance on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
Racing against a world-class field in the MC3 classification, Hayward powered through the technical course with precision and strength, clocking the fastest time of the day and securing Canada’s first gold medal of the championships. His victory adds to an impressive international record that includes gold and bronze medals at the 2024 World Cup in Australia, a Time Trial bronze in Belgium, and a silver in the C3 scratch race at the 2024 Track World Championships in Rio. He also earned four medals at the 2023 Parapan American Games and previously won a World Cup Time Trial in Quebec City in 2022, solidifying his reputation as one of Canada’s top para-cyclists.
This result builds on Hayward’s bronze in Individual Pursuit at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games and strong seasons of impressive national results as well. Alongside Alexandre was his teammate Michael Sametz, who finished 5th with a short, one second off the podium position.
