OTTAWA, ON (September 13, 2025) – Canadian mountain biker Cole Punchard delivered a commanding ride in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, earning silver in the Men’s U23 Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) race at the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships.
Punchard completed the 8-lap course in 1:21:19, finishing just 54 seconds behind Swiss rider Finn Treudler. The technical alpine course tested riders with steep climbs and fast descents, and Punchard’s performance secured his first ever XCO world championship medal.
Punchard’s silver follows his bronze in the U23 Short Track (XCC) in Zermatt, part of a strong Canadian medal haul that included podiums from Isabella Holmgren and Jennifer Jackson. Read more about that performance here.
Cycling Canada congratulates Cole Punchard on his outstanding achievements and celebrates all Canadian athletes who proudly represented the maple leaf in Crans-Montana and Zermatt.
