THE CANADIAN MASTERS ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO VICTORIA

OTTAWA, ON (August 7, 2025) – Cycling Canada is pleased to announce the return of the Canadian Masters Road Championships, taking place from August 8–10, 2025 in Victoria, British Columbia. Organized by the Wheelhouse Cycling Society, the event will bring together top Masters athletes from across the country to compete for national titles in Time Trial, Road Race, and Criterium disciplines.

“We’re thrilled to bring the 2025 Canadian Masters Road Championships back to Victoria. The city has long been a cornerstone of Canadian cycling, and we’re excited to celebrate both high-level racing and lifelong participation in the sport,” says Cycling Canada Events and Officials Coordinator, Jacob Graper.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Victoria’s coastal roads and vibrant cycling culture, the Championships will celebrate not only high-level competition, but also the community and legacy of Masters cycling in Canada. The event continues a proud tradition of racing in the region, which has hosted the 1994 Commonwealth Games, helping launch the careers of many elite Canadian cyclists.

Returning champions are set to bring serious explosiveness to the 2025 Canadian Masters Road Championships in Victoria. Among them, Mark Sherbonneau (Broad Street Breakaway) looks to defend his Masters B title for a third consecutive year, while John Vanderveen (Riverway Dental Racing), Bruce Bird (Wheels of Bloor), Robert Anderson (Independent), and Debra Parker (Watt Riot Cycling) will be back after securing top honours across their respective categories in 2024. Heather Simonson (Tripleshot) from Victoria will be back to defend her 55-64 Time Trial race title and Nathalie Champagne (Agowatt) from Victoria for the 55-64 Criterium title. With titles already under their belts and podium experience on this course, the riders promise fierce competition and thrilling performances.

The 2025 edition will also serve as a qualifying opportunity for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, with automatic qualification for all category winners and wild card allocations available for eligible riders. Athletes who qualify will wear Cycling Canada’s Community kit design, which is now available to anyone for pre-order from August 1–22 here.
