OTTAWA, ON (August 31, 2026) – Canada’s top BMX Racing athletes put on a thrilling show in St. Albert, Alberta this weekend as national titles were awarded at the 2026 Canadian BMX Racing Championships. Hosted alongside Canada Cup Round 9, the event brought together the country’s best riders to compete for the coveted maple leaf jersey and the title of Canadian Champion.
From August 29-30, the championship brought together talented riders from Elite, U23, Junior and Challenge categories at one of Canada’s newest BMX racing tracks. In the elite categories, Curtis Krey claimed the Elite Men’s title. The Ontario rider has established himself as one of Canada’s top BMX talents, with consistent domestic results and experience on the international stage. On the women’s side, Molly Simpson claimed the Elite Women’s crown, adding another national title to her resume. One of Canada’s most accomplished BMX athletes, Simpson entered the Championships following a season highlighted by multiple UCI BMX Racing World Cup podium finishes and strong international performances.
In the U23 categories, Alexis Rhéaume and Victoria Dubé claimed the maple leaf jersey, showcasing the strength of Canada’s next generation of BMX racing talent. The Junior championship titles went to Lucas Zhou and Laurianne Beland. Zhou added a Canadian title to a season that included claiming the 2026 UCI BMX Racing Junior Men’s World Championship title, while Beland backed up her status as one of Canada’s top junior riders with another impressive performance on the national stage.
The Championships also featured full Challenge category racing, with riders of all ages competing for titles and providing some of the weekend’s most exciting action. The action continued Sunday with Canada Cup Round 9, where riders battled for valuable series points as the national BMX Racing calendar enters its final stretch. With just one stop remaining in the 2026 BMX Canada Cup Series, athletes will now turn their attention to the Nanaimo BMX Canada Cup (#10 and #11) taking place September 19-20 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, where the overall series standings will be decided.
