CYCLING CANADA INDIVIDUALIZED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
PRIMARY CONTACTS: For any Mental Health concern, it is highly recommended to reach out to the contacts below. Your National Coach can also help put you in touch with these individuals.

- Maggie Stein Jamieson, our National Mental Health Lead at msjamieson@csiontario.ca.
- Maggie provides confidential support and guidance to help get the right kind of support quickly. Her job is to help you understand what you are dealing with and what type of treatment you need, as well as to follow up and advocate for you along the way.
- Dr. Andre Lui, our National Team Lead Physician, at drandrelui@gmail.com.
- Dr. Lui can connect you directly with a Cycling Canada-authorized physician based on your location.

CARDED ATHLETES & THEIR COACHES:
Game Plan provides up to $2,500 in individualized mental health support to carded athletes and their identified coaches.

- A third-party organization monitors this inbox. Game Plan does not receive your personal health information or know your identity.

Note: This funding is available to any carded athlete or their identified coach for 2 full fiscal years (April 1 – March 31) after they are removed from that status.
Homewood Health Funding: Carded athletes have access to fully funded individual and group mental health support through Homewood Health (*new in 2025) after exhausting the funding provided above.

- Mental Health Continuum and Individual Mental Health Action Plans (IMHAP)
- Information, support and group programs for athletes transitioning out of sport (Beyond the Big Moment – Post Games Planning Resource).
- Education about Mental Health for Athletes, Coaches, and Sport Organizations (including fact sheets, workbooks, and workshop opportunities).
- For eligible athletes, access to free Career Counselling, Continuing Education opportunities, Branding and Sponsorship support, and extended funding can be accessed here and via your Game Plan Advisor (regionally associated with Canadian Sport Institutes) or found on this website.
- CSIO Mental Health Resources:
- Helpful hyperlinks for getting MH support, including the above resources. Includes evidence-based self-help techniques and education on specific issues that affect high performers (e.g., sleep, anxiety, mood, perfectionism, OCD, trauma).
- Canadian Mental Health Association:
- The Canadian Mental Health Association provides a wealth of information and resources and can also provide referrals for supports by province.
- Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport:
- The CCMHS is a Collaborative Care Clinic that provides Sport-Informed Mental Health treatment for athletes and coaches. It is a fee-for-service option to anyone who is not eligible for Game Plan subsidized MH support.
- International Olympic Committee Athlete 365:
- The IOC’s Athlete 365 provides articles, resources and advice to help put mental health first, and to recognise the signs and symptoms that you or a teammate may be struggling.
- Coaching Association of Canada
- The CAC Mental Health and Sport Resource Hub is a free online portal offering training and resources for coaches to develop mental health literacy and positive coaching practices to improve performance and well-being in sport.

- The Canadian Olympic Committee has created this interactive module to educates coaches and athlete-facing staff on how to effectively support athletes with mental health concerns. It also includes exercises for regulating your own nervous system in this passion profession and staying on top of your own mental health.
