OTTAWA, ON (September 3, 2026) – Cycling Canada is delighted to announce its team for the 2026 UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Taking place from September 4th to September 7th, Canada’s best will showcase their talents in the Individual Time Trials and Road Race events at this year’s world championships.
The Para squad is coming off a successful 2026 World Cup season, where the team won 6 medals across the Belgian and Italian stops on the circuit. Alex Hayward won MC3 ITT medals at both the Gistel and Abruzzo events, and teammate Maarten Duif took home 3 with two silvers in the road races and a bronze in the Gistel MH1 ITT. Jessica Law capped things off with a hard fought Bronze in the WC5 road race in Abruzzo.
The squad returns several athletes from the 2025 World Championships in Ronse, Belgium, Alex Hayward, Jessical Law and Michael Sametz are back and ready to excel. Alex Hayward of Quispamsis, N.B looks to back up his double medal-winning performance. Last year in Belgium he won the gold in the C3 Individual Time Trial and took bronze in the C3 Road Race.
