2026 CANADIAN TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS (U17/JR) HEAD TO EDMONTON THIS WEEKEND

OTTAWA, ON (March 26, 2026) – Canada’s top U17 and Junior track cyclists will compete in Edmonton, Alberta from March 27–29, 2026 for the 2026 Canadian Track Championships (U17/Jr), a key highlight on Cycling Canada’s national championships calendar and an important stepping stone in the high‑performance pathway for young athletes.

Jen Eaton, Cycling Canada Events and Officials Manager, highlighted, “We’re thrilled to welcome the nation’s top young cyclists to the 2026 Canadian Track Championships for U17s and Juniors, hosted this year at the newly opened Coronation Park Sport and Recreation Centre in Edmonton.” She added, “This state-of-the-art facility provides an inspiring stage for young athletes to test their abilities, push their limits, and continue shaping the future of Canadian cycling. We can’t wait to witness the remarkable performances and rising talent that will emerge throughout the championships.”

Hosted in collaboration with the Alberta Velodrome Association, the Championships will take place at Edmonton’s new indoor velodrome, marking an exciting chapter for track cycling in Western Canada as the first national championships held in the facility. Athletes in the U17 and Junior categories will compete for the coveted maple leaf jersey across a full slate of national championship events, with three days of racing for both sprint and endurance categories.

The lineup includes many returning 2025 champions as well as new riders ready to claim the podium. Among the returning riders is Alexandra Fangeat, having made a breakthrough last championship by breaking the world record in the Junior Women’s Individual Pursuit and proving she could dominate even after moving up from U17 to Junior competition. Fangeat will be accompanied by a strong lineup of fellow 2025 champions.
