CANADIAN TEAM SET TO COMPETE AT 2025 UCI DOWNHILL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CHAMPÉRY SWITZERLAND 

OTTAWA, ON (August 28, 2025) – Cycling Canada is proud to announce the athletes who will represent Canada at the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Championships, taking place in Champéry, Switzerland from September 5 to September 7. 

Champéry’s steep, technical course will push riders to their limits, and Canada’s lineup includes some of the sport’s most exciting talent with standout performances across the global stage. Anthony Shelly enters with a Crankworx victory under his belt, bringing precision and power to one of the season’s toughest tracks. Tayte Proulx-Royds, the reigning junior national champion, turned heads with a top ten finish in her World Cup debut and continues to build momentum. Among the elite riders, Gracey Hemstreet who is Canada’s first woman to win an Elite Downhill World Cup comes off back-to-back victories in Loudenvielle and Leogang, solidifying her status as a podium regular. Jackson Goldstone, a former Junior World Champion and two-time Red Bull Hardline winner, has dominated the 2025 season with four consecutive World Cup wins and a second-place overall finish, making him one of the most formidable riders on the global circuit. 

Tayte Proulx-Royds is a Junior athlete who’s very excited to be representing Canada at her first ever World Championships: “I’ve taken a look at the track through some social media channels and couldn’t be more stoked for this competition! It’s going to be a great week, with a great crew, and I can’t wait to give it my best shot!”

“We are all very excited for the upcoming World Championships in Champéry, Switzerland!” explains Cycling Canada’s National Team Coach, Chad Hendren. “The lineup of Canadian athletes is very solid, and we are looking very strong going into the event. Our Elite contingent is an all-star squad with podium potential and our Juniors are excited and ready to face the legendary track. This is one of the strongest teams we’ve had and we’re super excited to get tires on dirt!” 

Athletes will compete in Junior and Elite categories, with official training beginning on September 3 in preparation for racing on September 5–7.
