OTTAWA, ON (December 5, 2025) – Cycling Canada is proud to announce a new multi‑year funding partnership with the Paris to Ancaster Bike Race (P2A), one of Canada’s most iconic and community‑driven cycling events. Through this agreement, the Paris to Ancaster Bike Race will continue to contribute vital funding resources over the next five years to directly support Canada’s European cyclo-cross campaigns, including the annual Christmas Cross project and UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships.
For more than three decades, Paris to Ancaster has been a pillar of Canadian cycling culture, drawing thousands of riders each year and partnering with organizations that strengthen the sport and its communities. This new investment reflects P2A’s continued commitment to developing Canadian athletes and expanding opportunities on the international stage.
John Thorpe, P2A Co-Founder, shared: “It is a pleasure to support the Canadian Cyclo-Cross team again this year. This continues a long tradition for P2A – before gravel existed we were first known as a mountain bike race, but it wasn’t long until the cross bikes took over, and I think the mud aspect is still a draw to the cross riders. As a part of the sponsorship, we will once again be inviting the National Cyclo-Cross Team to compete. It has been great for us to host young riders in the past and follow their development.”
The funding will take effect during our 2025/2026 cyclo-cross season, providing essential support for European cyclo-cross campaigns and laying the groundwork for sustained progress in the years ahead. Cycling Canada extends its sincere thanks to Paris to Ancaster for their leadership and commitment to athlete development. Their investment reinforces a shared vision for elevating Canadian cyclo-cross on the international stage.
