CANADA GRABS FIVE MEDALS AT PARA-CYCLING WORLD CUP IN SPAIN
Spain is hosting second of third event on UCI calendar
(Segovia, SPA – June 15, 2012) The Canadian Para-cycling Team is in Segovia, Spain, for the second UCI World Cup race of the 2012 calendar.
Canada won a total of five medals in the time trial races for all categories.
World Champions Robbi Weldon and Lyne Bessette rode to the third place. “Given that today’s course was flat and windy, which is not our specialty, I’m pretty happy with our result, just 13 seconds out of the winner. The road race should be interesting, with a killer 750m cobble stone climb. I am looking forward to it,” said Weldon.
The road races will be held tomorrow and Sunday. Following the World Cup in Spain, the Canadian team will return to Canada, and prepare to race the 2012 IMMUNITY-FX Road Canadian Championships in Lac Mégantic, prior to departing for third and final leg of the UCI World Cup in Baie-Comeau, QC.
