PEMBLE CLOSES OUT WORLDS WITH A THIRD MEDAL FOR TEAM CANADA

Ottawa, ON (November 1, 2026) – On the final day of the 2026 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, Mel Pemble added another medal to Canada’s tally by capturing bronze in the Women’s C3 Sprint final. That makes three medals for Team Canada to close out competition.

Racing against the top sprinters in the field, Pemble powered to a podium finish just 0.155 seconds behind France’s Tifany Huot-Marchand. The bronze performance follows her silver-medal ride in the C3 Time Trial earlier in the week, reinforcing her status as one of the strongest track sprinters on the international stage. Pemble also competed across two other events during the championships including the Elimination Race, and the Scratch, finishing 9th in both fields.

Cycling Canada’s Chief of High-Performance Sport Sebastien Travers highlights, “I am very proud of how the team raced over this championship. We now have a good idea of what needs to be refined in the next two years to solidify our medal potential. For me personally, this was my last para-cycling project as lead coach, so it is for sure a bit emotional. This team means so much to me and I am convinced that the success will keep coming!”

The Victoria, B.C rider has established herself as an icon of Canada’s para-cycling track team, consistently delivering results across both sprint and endurance events. A winter and summer Paralympian from PyeongChang 2018 and Paris 2024 respectively, Pemble’s performance today now brings her World Championship medal total to 13 in her career.
