OTTAWA, ON (August 24, 2026) – Cycling Canada is proud to celebrate the performances of it’s junior athletes following five days of competition at the 2026 UCI Junior Track World Championships in Heusden‑Zolder, Belgium.
The week was headlined by Eve Buczkowski, who captured the rainbow jersey in the Junior Women’s Points Race after a competitive ride on the Saturday of competition. Her world title capped an already exceptional week for the Ontario rider, who also helped set a new Canadian record in the Junior Women’s Team Pursuit earlier in the championships. In the Individual Pursuit, Alexandra Fangeat (9th) and Élodie Malois (10th) delivered competitive top‑10 finishes, with Élodie setting a new national record during qualification. Sheldon Drewitt added two more strong results for Canada, placing 7th in the Men’s Sprint and 8th in the Keirin.
Malois continued her momentum with a 6th‑place finish in the Women’s Time Trial before teaming up with Sandrine Veilleux for 10th in the Madison, closing out a week that showcased the bright future of Canadian track cycling. Eve Buczkowski, Élodie Malois, Alexandra Fangeat and Sandrine Veilleux also combined their talent to take fourth in the women’s team pursuit.
